Information on our 66-79 Bronco kits:
Our solid axle 66 - 79 Bronco suspension systems are designed to give superior performance for highway handling and towing as well as excellent off road stability. This is achieved by using a combination of the following components:
Coil Springs: All coil springs we sell are specifically engineered to operate with each vehicles suspension needs. They are made from 5160H Chromium Alloy and are refined using shotpeening technology to create longer life and a stronger tensile strength. The coils are pre-settled to reduce height changes. A tough baked on powder coating is used to protect against corrosion and rust.
Rear Leaf: We use Skyjacker® Softride® leaf springs in the Premium Packages we sell. These springs are a two stage progressive multi-leaf pack, whichwill make the load carrying capabilities equal to or greater than the factories GVWR specifications. They are tapered cut and shotpeened to provide an excellent ride and superior strength.
Caster: One of the biggest problems with the Bronco solid axle suspensions is that the caster degree angle is too negative. This results in “bump steer” & “over steer”, darting and wandering tendencies and a “memory steer” problem when coming out of turns. We use radius drop brackets in combination with polyurethane C bushings to help correct these problems.
Steering Linkage: Most 66 - 79 Bronco’s have non adjustable drag links. This causes several things to occur when lifting the vehicle. Increased drag link angles can result in erratic handling similar to those caused by improper caster angles. Extreme angles can cause drag link end studs to bind and possibly shear off, resulting in total loss of control. We use adjustable drag links in combination with drop pitman arms to correct these problems. (Adjustable drag links are not currently available for 76-77 Broncos).
Tracking Bar: Improper tracking bar length can cause your vehicle to “dog track” down the highway. We have the perfect solution for this problem—adjustable tracking bars that allow you to customize the length according to your individual vehicles requirements.
