Materials: Micro-alloyed spring steel is used in all Old Man Emu coil springs. This process of adding small quantities of alloying elements enhances the strength of the steel used. This is particularly important for coil springs, which need to withstand repeated cycles of compression and extension without permanent deformation.

Shot Peened: Old Man Emu requires all their coil springs to go through the "shot peening" process to ensure maximum resistance to fatigue or failure. This process entails each coil spring being loaded into a machine that shoots thousands of small steel balls at the springs, creating small indentations or dimples on the surface of the steel alloy. These dimples strengthen the springs to resist tensile stress that can develop during the lifespan of the coil springs.

Double Scragged: After springs are shot peened, they are then double scragged. This means each spring is pre-set or stress-relieved by compressing it beyond its normal working range. This is done twice.

Finish: To enhance both aesthetics and durability, Old Man Emu coil springs are finished with a hard-wearing black powder coat. This coating not only protects against corrosion but also adds a touch of ruggedness to your vehicle's undercarriage.
