What is a Body Lift Kit?

A body lift differs from a suspension or leveling kit because it does not alter your vehicle's suspension. Instead, these kits use high-density (near indestructible) polycarbonate spacer blocks that are inserted between the body and chassis (frame) at the factory body mount locations. The kits include grade 8 bolts that are extended in length to allow for the use of the spacer blocks.

How difficult is the installation

Installation of a body lift kit becomes progressively more difficult as the size increases. A 1-inch body lift kit is relatively simple, with few modifications required. However, depending on the vehicle model, a 2 or 3-inch body lift kit can be challenging. These kits can include brackets or adjustments for your steering, radiator, bumpers, and fuel filler hose, to name a few. Before purchasing a body lift kit, we recommend downloading the installation instructions to know what is involved. An experienced installation tech is best suited for most body lift installation jobs. Also, since only the body and bed are being raised with a 3-inch body lift kit, the frame becomes more noticeable when viewing from the side of the vehicle. Some people are bothered by this, and others are not. It's important to note that while the installation process can be complex, the benefits of a body lift kit, such as increased fender clearance and the ability to accommodate larger tires, often outweigh the challenges.
